Izetta Mae Ransome "Dee Dee" age 76 of Fort Walton Beach passed away at her home with her family at her side on Saturday, November 19, 2016. Izetta was born in 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana to George and Mary Ellison. She was the middle child and had 5 siblings. At the age of 8 Izetta's family moved to Newark, NJ where they were active at the Greater New Point Baptist Church in. Izetta graduated Essex County College with a degree in Child Psychology. She worked for Green Taxi Company in Irving, NJ for over 20 years as a dispatcher, after retiring she relocated to Georgia to be closer to her children. While in Manetas, GA she became a prominent member of Turner Chapel AME where she was a choir member, served on the Usher Board and started a crochet club with other members of the church. Izetta was an avid movie watcher and loved action movies, as well as, all genres of music. Her love of children and gentle spirit allowed her to become Mama Dee to any child she met. Her sense of humor was unparalleled to include her own language, her favorite actor was East Clintwood (Clint Eastwood); her favorite movie was NY Ice Tea (New Jack City); and her favorite store was Wix A Dennie (Winn-Dixie) and to clear her throat she would often "cough on a suck drop." Her name was as unique as she was and she was affectionately known as Zett, Dee Dee, Mama Dee, Hizeppa and Ozella.
Izetta is preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters Anna Holder and Clara Jean Ellison, brother John Redd, Son Curtis Ransome, Nephew Jerome Redd and best friend Beatrice Trapp. She is survived by her children, Daniel Ransome, Larry (Hitomi) Ransome, Felicia (Rodney) Lapread, Beatrice (Christopher) St. Julien and Crystal (Joseph) Lindsey, as well as 24 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and niece Regina (Angelo) Smith.
Services will be conducted Tuesday, November 22nd 1pm at the Emerald Coast Worship Center, 300 Mary Esther Blvd. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, November 21st at Emerald Coast Funeral Home from 5 to 8pm.
